March 31, 2014

The winter has been tough but right at this moment it's 59* and the snow piles are gone!  We spent three months mostly inside with a limited amounts of walks outside.  The patio was put to good use by both dogs.  I think they were as thankful as I was that we had a back-up plan.  The snow and ice combos were bad but especially for Tony's short legs.  I ended up wear shoe trackers for almost every walk.  I had three different types of spikes - "bad" weather, "worse" weather and then "the worst" weather. We cut out morning walks as too treacherous.  Some days we could only walk once - in the afternoon. On other days I would dress for the winter weather and then stand out on the patio with the dogs.  I guess you could call it "pretend walks"!
However Molly's adventurous spirit soared to as the conditions outside worsened.  She search out and climb every 20 ft. snowdrift and snow plow push she could locate.  The first climb took her to a fork in a mature oak where she ended up eye-to-eye with a bird's nest.   I don't know who was more shocked - Molly or the birds! She wanted more and higher - PLEASE! I think she channeled her inner border collie every time she climbed. Tony was content to watch her climb from firm ground - ALWAYS!

Dec. 21, 2009

This is an old post that I just found and I thought it was so cute because my post for today talks about the anniversary of adopting Tony!

Well Tony's been with us for 3 months now and we all continue to learn about each other.
Molly really enjoys playing with him. An event that I thought would never happen.
He is such a nice dog, very loving with me.
I can take a bone out of his mouth without a fuss.
He loves to run around on the 40ft. leash.
He uses his nose as a tool.
He loves to eat bird seed just like Molly.
He loves car rides.
He doesn't like anything that glides by him like roller blades, bikes etc.
He loves my food!!!!!!!
He learns pretty quick.
He respects "NO"
He doesn't try to eat out of Molly's food bowl but he will drink out of her water bowl.
He doesn't like his feet touched.
He likes to be brushed.

An Anniversary!

This is Tony's gotcha day!  We are celebrating - slept till 11AM, getting ready to have brunch by sitting on the couch!  Tony is happily chewing on his favorite toy.  Molly is sleeping.

Life in the 2 dog home has been rolling along.  Tony has graduated to sleeping in bed with the pack and he is HAPPY!  No more crying nights.  I think it has also helped Molly to accept him as a family member.  Molly has learned to be more of a "dog" and Tony has learned to trust.  Big steps for both!
